Tourniquets are simple devices use to stop excessive bleeding from arterial and vein locations in the extremities. With training you will know  when and why a tourniquet is used  and how to apply a tourniquet to your best advantage during an emergency. This 90-Minute Tourniquet training coupled with Stop The Bleed training and CPR, can provide valuable insight and learning to help prepare for a critical incident. Considering adding tourniquets to your first aid kit for home, car and firearm gear and range equipment. Successful tourniquet training experience is a combination of lecture, group discussion, instructor demonstrations and hands-on practice.

HANDS-ON TOURNIQUET TRAINING BASIC

In this class we will maximize time spent on lecture, hands-on training, individual practice and competency checks.

1. Apply High and Tight.

2. Pull.

3. Secure the Windlass Strap.

5. Goal: To stop the bleeding.

6. Be aware: One tourniquet may not be enough.

A few minutes of practice can make a big difference in performance when the stakes are high. Don’t limit yourself to simply practicing the skill, but also, imagine or visualize a life-threatening bleeding incident to help you prepare for the real thing. The list of situations that could occur is endless, but working through some, such as a vehicle accident, a slip and fall at home or in the work place, a gas station clerk shot in the leg, a mass shooting incident, or even an accident on the shooting range while practicing, will better prepare you to act. Always Be Observing (ABO) in the environments you put yourself in through the day. If you don't have a plan, you're planning to fail. PREPARE. PREVENT. PREVAIL.
